Joe Kent is Prime Traffic Management’s Managing Director. He founded Prime Traffic Management Ltd in 2023 and this is what Joe had to say when interviewed about Prime Traffic Management.

What made you start Prime Traffic Management?

” I decided to start Prime Traffic Management Ltd because I genuinely enjoy Traffic Management. I have worked in TM both in England & in Australia in a variety of capacities from on site traffic management, running government funded projects all the way up to senior management. Over my time in TM I have gained a plethora of knowledge and skills & developed a set standard of what I deem is acceptable in terms of how a Traffic Management site should look & function that is compliant but most importantly safe for all on site staff and anyone navigating in and around the site wether that’s vehicular traffic, pedestrians or vulnerable road users”

What make Prime Traffic Management different to other TM Companies?

” The biggest difference is our standards and that is what sets us apart from our direct competition. During initial induction our trainee operatives are taught our stringent standards of TM, their training continues by being buddied with a trained M5 operative that has been taught our ways we find that this is the best way to learn. We conduct regular audits throughout the training period to ensure that our standards are being met and encourage our trainees to ask questions and study the relevant documentation ( red book & our standards) as much as they can”

” The other main difference is our communication, we love to communicate to create long lasting professional relationships as it is essential to achieve success. We are fully transparent and we love to deal with customers who are the same. Ultimately we want to provide the most efficient, safe & cost effective form of Traffic Management, being able to have a 2 way channel of communication between a dedicated account manager and our customers we can ensure we are on site exactly when you require. This avoids confusion and any additional fees for late cancellation etc”

What’s your experience in Traffic Management?

” As I said earlier I spent some time in Australia doing Traffic Management, I started off with a BWTM ( Basic Worksite Traffic Management) Ticket. When I first started I was just a TC ( Traffic Controller) however after about a month I became crew leader on some smaller jobs and after a further 3 months was given the opportunity to be crew leader on a government funded project where I had to manage about 20 Operatives during any one shift. After a year of holding my BWTM I was eligible to obtain my AWTM ( Advanced Worksite Traffic Management) for me this was a no brainer as it was the only way to progress. I sat the course and passed. This allowed me to create Traffic Management Plans, Traffic Guidance Schemes and Audit Sites, I had some great mentors during this transition from site to office and I will forever be grateful for them. After some time in the office and due to my mentor leaving I had no choice but to pick up additional responsibilities which I happily accepted and this pathed the way for me into a more managerial role which I thoroughly enjoyed. I worked all over WA in the metropolitan areas, coastline, Wheatbelt Region but my favourite area was the Pilbara Region, filled with natural beauty and some amazing scenery. After returning from Australia I entered back in to Traffic Management and after some time I decided to start Prime Traffic Management which I established in 2023″

What’s the plan for Prime Traffic Management?

“I plan to ensure Prime Traffic Management reaches every success possible, I want to ensure our staff are working in a safe environment and want them to feel valued within the business. I would love to eventually offer an apprenticeship to give a young person an opportunity to enter the workplace and learn essential skills that will benefit them for years to come. We have already achieved our SMAS Accreditation our next milestone is our ISO’s which kick off next month. There will be plenty of things happening along this journey, to keep up to date with what we are doing keep an eye on our socials”
